Learning from each other’s experience

November 4: A delegation of education officials, school and institution principals and monks from the Thai education ministry is in the country on an exchange programme.

The prgramme is expected to build partnership with the Ministry of Education in Bhutan in re-enforcing the objective of learning from each others’ experience and further existing institutional ties.

The major focus of the cooperation would be teaching of value based education, environmental studies in schools, institutions and dratshang and to identify areas and strategies that need to be considered while developing and improving value and environmental curriculum, a press release from the education ministry stated. During the seven-day stay, the delegation will visit dratshangs, institutions and Schools in Paro, Punakha, Chukha, Thimphu and Wangdi. They will observe classes, talk to students, teachers and principals.

The delegation will visit the Paro College of Education to explore possibilities of collaboration with pre-service teacher education and identify areas that need to be strengthened on teaching of value education. They will also visit the Centre for Bhutan Studies to learn the GNH philosophy and its linkage to education.

The delegation will also interact with the Yangbi Lopen and the Tsugla Lopen to learn and understand teaching of value education in religious context.
