October 16: Drukdra Dorji Penjore, a class 10 Bhutanese student studying in St. Joseph’s School, North Point, Darjeeling, has been awarded the Depelchin Gold Medal. He was awarded the medal today. The Depelchin Gold Medal is the school’s highest and most prestigious award. October 15: Bhutan’s under-16 national team has conceded 12 goals in two matches and is languishing at the bottom of group C at the ongoing AFC U-16 championship 2010 qualifying competition. October 15: The much-awaited Nehru Golden Jubilee railway will not enter through the Phuentsholing main town and will not have its station in the town as planned, according to officials. Thailand contributes to quake relief efforts

October 14: The government of Thailand contributed USD 30,000 (about Nu 14.1 million) to Bhutan in aid of the effort to rehabilitate damages wreaked by the recent earthquake in eastern Bhutan. HM grants audience to Dungse Rinpoche

October 12: His Majesty the King granted an audience to His Holiness Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche at the Lingkana palace today. He arrived in the Kingdom on a month long visit last Tuesday. Yesterday, Dungse Rinpoche performed Threma Tshokhor at the Thimphu Memorial Chorten. Rinpoche is also scheduled to recite Baza Guru at the Police ground. Bomb blast in Sarpang

October 12: Two Royal Bhutan Army (RBA) soldiers were injured after an improvised explosive device planted in a bunker in Gaden village, Umling, Sarpang, exploded around 6:40 am today. The bunker is manned only during the day from the RBA outpost at Umling said a RBA spokesperson. He said the explosive device could have been planted at night.
